What is this training?

This is a 2-day, 20-hour comprehensive “Labor Doula Training” that prepares you to become a certified labor doula, covering both hands-on skill development and entry-level business setup.

Who is the training with?

I’m a qualified ProDoula trainer (I’ve worked as a doula and now train others). The training uses the ProDoula curriculum and you’ll benefit from real-world doula experience being shared.

What topics are included?

A: Some of what you’ll learn:

  • Communication skills: personality styles (DISC), writing your doula elevator speech, interviewing clients.

  • Understanding birth environments: hospital, home, how to become part of the birth team, using the 5 senses.

  • Labor & birth: hormones, cervical changes, spontaneous vs precipitate labor; support during first, second, third stage.

  • Physical, emotional & educational support: comfort measures, partner support, touch, massage, labor positions.

  • Interventions & medication: caesarean, epidural, episiotomy, turning a breech baby, benefits/risks of interventions.

  • Immediate postpartum & newborn: family bonding, breastfeeding, newborn meds, etc.

  • Doula self-care & business: what the on-call life looks like, processing births, starting your doula business.

Do I have to attend all the hours?

Yes — to qualify for certification you must attend the full 20-hour (2-day) workshop.


Is there a cost?

The cost (as per standard ProDoula listing) is approximately US $645 for the 2-day training, plus a first-year membership fee of $95, and an annual fee thereafter. Doula Training and Certification

Can I bring my baby or children?

Unfortunately no — this training is a professional learning environment. You’ll need to arrange childcare during training hours.
